Location and Transportation

Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy located in Southeast Asia. It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories and has a total landmass of 330,803 square kilometres (127,720 sq mi) separated by the South China Sea into two similarly sized regions, Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia (Malaysian Borneo). Miri is located in East of Malaysia, a coastal city in north-eastern Sarawak, Malaysia which is one of the largest states in Malaysia. It is the second largest city in Sarawak. The city is also the capital of Miri District of the Miri Division.
Miri has a tropical rainforest climate. There are two monsoon seasons: the southwest monsoon, which is the dry season from April to September, and the northeast monsoon, which is the wet season from October to March. The air temperature is between 23 °C (73 °F) to 32 °C (90 °F) the whole year round.

 

Access to Miri by Plane

Miri Airport (MYY), which moved to a sparkling new facility in 2005, is a significant hub for central Borneo. To access Miri by air, it is recommended to travel from Peninsular Malaysia due to frequent flights from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru with various airlines available such as Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Malindo and Firefly. Miri airport is also connected to all major destinations in Malaysian Borneo, including Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. Furthermore, there are connecting flights in between Singapore and Miri which allows participants to plan ahead of their journey to reach on time.
The distance between the Miri Airport and conference venue (Imperial Hotel) is approximately 12 km which take 19 minutes to arrive. The cost of the travelling is around MYR 7-10 (~$ 4 USD).
